Artist Statement

Las Huellas de la Tierra hacen parte del recorrido del hombre por el mundo. Tienen un carácter Antropológico e Histórico, en donde se hace una fusión consiente entre el expresionismo Abstracto y mi formación integral como Antropóloga, Historiadora y periodista.

Las Huellas son relacionadas con un universo mágico de color, arena y en algunas cenizas, en el cual se busca plasmar en las obras, el paso del hombre en el mundo; dejando como trazo firme una huella en la tierra como prueba de su existencia, una muestra registrada del pasado, del presente y del futuro.

Dentro de este proceso de investigación entendí que estas huellas son reflejos de mis más íntimos y profundos sentimientos, emociones, deseos, tristezas y vivencias que salen de mi ser para marcar a otros.Mi intención al pintar, es crear mundos mágicos que conmuevan y hagan sentir y que cada individuo tenga sus propias búsquedas, sentimientos y experiencias cuando se encuentre frente a mis obras.


Pero estas huellas se transforman en varias cosas: es un gesto, es un paso, un movimiento.  Es la tierra, la vida y al mismo tiempo la muerte. Es lo que está y lo que se fue; pero también es lo que duele, lo que alegra; lo que marca. Y como marca, queda impresa por siempre en la memoria, como impronta digital que deja huellas en la tierra; huellas mágicas dentro de un mundo pictórico.

Prints of the Earth Make part of the human path through the world. They have an anthropological and historic character and consciously fuse the abstract expressionism with my academic formation in anthropology, history and journalism.

Prints from the Earth form part of a magical universe that reflects the path of humans in our world, and how they leave behind Prints as a proof of their existence; a proof of past,present and future.

I have come to the realization that these prints reflect my most intimate and profound feelings, emotions, wishes, sadness and life experiences.My intention behind painting is to create magical worlds that move people, that makes them look within and explore their feelings when confronted with my work.

A print can transform itself into multiple things; a gesture, a step, movement. Prints are the earth, life and at the same time death. They are what is and what was. What hurts and what gives joy. As such they leave a mark, a print; a print forever in our memories.
